Description

Tieguanyin tea comes from Anxi county in Fujian province. Another name for Guanyin is Guanshiyin, which is the most popular female Buddha in China. Chinese folks believed that she was the most charitable Buddha and willing to help people. The word guanyin means to listen to people’s miseries, where the story goes how there was a man who devotedly believed in Guanyin. One day he dreamed of discovering an unusual tea tree in the crack of a rock near the stream. Just when he was trying to pick its leaves, he was woken up by a barking dog. Excited about his dream, he went to look for the place he was dreaming of and surprisingly he found a tea tree which he transplanted in front of his home. Since this tea tree was discovered under the guidance of Guanyin Buddha, the tea was named Tieguanyin. Tieguanyin tea trees are very delicate and weak, unable to bear difficult weather conditions. For that reason, it is said that Tieguanyin tea is “pleasant to drink but difficult to grow”. The trees germinate in March and leaves are picked in early May. Picking season is throughout the whole year with a very specific time in the day, between 9am and 4pm. Tieguanyin tea contains over thirty minerals, contents of potassium, fluorine and especially selenium at the highest. These minerals can stimulate creation of immune protein and antibodies and improving immune system, as well as positive effects on coronary heart disease. In addition, Tieguanyin fragrance also has positive effects on relaxing the body and heart.
